Yes. Morning shift is a cup of caffeine itself.
Order of events for my first ever morning shift:
-Wake up to KUT at 5 am; attempt to snap out of robot mode in order to satisfy hundreds of caffeine addicts in a rush.
-Pour, grind, and brew large amounts of Katz coffee so that the smell echoes down Lamar, into the noses of sleep deprived Austinites.
-Warm machines; check the espresso pour. Is the crema golden?
-Make myself a too-many-shot latte and watch the sun begin to swell over Castle Hill.
It’s go time.
The next three hours pass in a haze of dripping dark roast, Bob Marley jams, the bell of the drive-through and the smiles of the hungover who now have a Tacodeli taco in their hands.
Lesson learned at ECP today:
-Reggae was created to inspire those awake before 6.
-Spoon sounds better hyped up on caffeine
-Sunshine plus espresso soft serve = a damn good day.
